5 Days of Farewell: Day 4

14 Jul

So this is it: the last full day in a world with a little mystery left around Harry Potter. For those who haven’t read the books, they don’t actually know what will happen to our beloved characters. I am not one of those people, but I am still so excited for this last installment.

I know the movie is technically out at midnight tonight, I will not be joining the crazy, costumed masses to take in the showing. I have to work tomorrow (hello, real life), and, as I’ve mentioned before, I’m a BIG fan of the Lux Level for major premieres like this, and as such, have already bought my tickets, chosen my (luxurious, large, leather) seats and am rearing to go tomorrow night!

Now, onward and upward to the day 4 of 5 days of farewell to Harry Potter! (Check out days 1,2 and 3 too!)

Today’s pivotal moment should come as no surprise to HP fans: it’s from 2009’s Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and it changed the game completely for the 7th and 8th movies.

Dumbledore’s death at the hands of Snape is such a blow, to Harry and all the characters, and to the readers and viewers. Even after reading it (and crying, not gonna lie), I still hoped maybe things would be different in the movie, and Dumbledore would live to cast another spell–and hopefully help Harry out in deal with Voldemort. But alas, no such changes were made (but imagine the uproar, had it been? Yikes.)

This was the death of Harry’s last, greatest ally and mentor. It really does set the stage nicely for the last movie though; there’s no knowledgeable authority figure left to help him. For the first time, we really see Harry as being on his own (with Ron and Hermione, of course).

Going to see HP tonight? What do you think tomorrow’s moment will be? Leave your thoughts in the comments, and check back for the final day of farewell to Harry!
