60% of the time, it works every time…

15 Jun

And the other 40% of the time, I use the “internet” to pull together a bag of wonderful randomness that is this post.

  • Black Swan Best Actress Winner Natalie Portman has (finally!) given birth to a baby boy! It seems like she’s been preggo forever, huh? The bundle of joy’s name hasn’t been revealed yet, but I’m hopeful that it’s not too crazy!
  • Am I the only person who thought these were the same movies? Despite the fact that no one is ever going to confuse Seth Rogen for Ryan Reynolds, I just can’t wrap my mind around the fact that these are different things. My B.

  • In a “blinked and you missed it,” the Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences issued a statement last night that will certainly have an impact on how many Best Picture Oscar nominees we’ll see coming out of 2011. The way that nominating ballots are counted is going to shift, which will potentially give us a different number of Best Picture nominees each year. According to EW, the board said in a statement that had these changes “been in place over the past decade there would have been years when there were five, six, seven, eight, and nine nominees.”  There’s been a lot of negative feedback around the expansion to 10 nominees the past 2 years, with the loudest criticism directed towards movies that maybe didn’t deserve a nomination, but got one to round out the field. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with these new rules in place!
Random enough for you? Oh, and I hope you know what movie inspired this post! (You totally do, right?)

Do you have 4 minutes?

7 Jun

Of course you do; who doesn’t have 4 minutes to spare on something amazing? I’m not asking you to save the world, or anything.

With just over 6 weeks before the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, part 2, I am getting to the end of my gratuitous HP posts. So, without further ado, enjoy this HP mashup (dare you not to get goosebumps or cry!)

Side note: I am going to be a hot mess after this movie comes.

I Want My MTV Movie Awards!

6 Jun

As predicted by moi last year, the third movie in the Twilight saga, Eclipse, cleaned it UP at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards. As the winners are decided on by the “general public” (read: those who care enough to go and vote), we can expect the next 2 years to be dominated by Twilight wins here as well. So what’s the incentive to watch? Good question. Before actually tuning in, I would’ve said 1) maybe it will be funny. After all, I love me some Jason Sudeikis and think he’s quite hilarious. 2) How messed up/awkward will that dyanmic Twilight duo of Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart be this year? Despite the hair rocked by the former and the ‘tube by the latter, they always manage for some incredibly uncomfortable moments. 3) A new Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 clip (check it out here!). Duh.

Favorite part: JTimbs and my new girlfriend Mila Kunis emphasizing that their completely platonic relationship allows them to do this:

I just wish they would date and be done with it!

Worst moment: I have that thing, that when someone embarrasses themselves in real life or in a movie/book/other fictional situation, I get anxious and fidgety. So enter the terrible, terrible “tribute” that RPatz gave while presenting the Generation award to the always lovely Reese Witherspoon. Gah, this is horrendous and makes me think he might have sniffed paint thinner before taking the stage. Dropping the f bomb for the east coasters watching live was the least of the bad things of this worst moment. Not a fan!

Best moment after the worst moment: Reese rocking her acceptance speech, being adorable and charming per usual. LOVES her!

So basically, I’d go ahead and call this a dud of a show. Eclipse won best kiss, fight, male & female performances and best movie. Seriously? There’s no excitement, no surprise and no question the Twilight kids are either wasted or just total asses when it comes to accepting awards bestowed upon by them by the hoards of fans.

Disclaimer: just because the Twilight movies are basically terrible and shouldn’t win anything, let alone an acting award, doesn’t mean I’m not going to see the 2 part finale (because I totally am).

And here’s the new trailer:
